First Aid Kits
Discover your fountain of youth.Promotional First Aid Kits
Promotional first aid kits are useful to almost any industry, since the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires all workplaces to make first aid equipment readily available in case of emergency. The container for a promotional first aid kit must be clean and waterproof to keep out bacteria. Promotional first aid kits should be checked regularly to make sure all the equipment is present, up to date, and ready to be used. The contents of promotional first aid kits vary according to context, since every industry has different occupational hazards, but most promotional first aid kits are designed to treat minor injuries. Contents typically include adhesive bandages, antiseptic wipes, latex gloves, scissors, an emergency blanket, gauze and disinfectant. Even basic promotional first aid kits intended for the workplace can be creatively improvised in emergency situations. For example, rubbing alcohol can be used to start a fire. It's hard to imagine such a need at most workplaces, but it is always good for everyone in the workplace to be prepared to handle an emergency. Keep in mind that training only one person to use the kit is hardly smart, since that person could be the one injured and unable to help. Training employees to use first aid kits and even encouraging them to train with the Red Cross for further emergency preparation does not only promote a healthy workplace; it expands employees' knowledge and experience and enriches their lives.
Promotional First Aid Kits and the Red Cross
Promotional first aid kits typically bear the widely recognized symbol of the Red Cross. 97 million volunteers and three distinct federations work together as the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to relieve human suffering worldwide, transcending race, sex, class, beliefs, and nationality. In 1914, the International Committee of the Red Cross set up a Prisoner of War Agency to relieve POWs, resulting in the release of 200,000 prisoners due to the intervention and diplomacy of the Red Cross. Also during the first World War, the ICRC monitored and upheld the mandates of the Geneva Conventions by reporting violations and protesting the new chemical warfare. In 1917 the ICRC received the Nobel Peace Prize, the only one awarded during World War I.
Promotional First Aid Kits Take a Lesson from World War II
Promotional first aid kits inspire us to imitate the work of the Red Cross, but some say the ICRC has had its failings. In World War II, the Red Cross continued its relief to civilians and prisoners of war, but was unable to reach the concentration camps of Nazi Germany, despite attempting to negotiate the treatment of prisoners there and despite receiving information about the mass killing of Jews. The Red Cross did inspect Theresienstadt, a privileged camp that the Nazis showcased to conceal the atrocities of concentration camps from the rest of the world. To this day, many critics see this lack of response as a perpetuation of the German charade and the ICRC's greatest failure. After World War II, ICRC volunteers continued to risk their lives to bring assistance to people in need, and today the American Red Cross offers prevention courses and first aid training to workplaces that desire to share its mission to help one's neighbors. The first step to promoting health and safety in the workplace is by obtaining or assembling promotional first aid kits.
