Laura Beth Oliver, a promotional products distributor whose home in Tuscaloosa, Alabama was destroyed when tornadoes ripped through the city in April, has organized this effort to benefit local victims. The Insurancenter, a client of Pinnacle Promotions, is headquartered in Joplin, Missouri where tornado damage severely affected several of its employees. Atlanta, GA- On August 6, Pinnacle Promotions hosted a cook-out to mark the beginning of their relationship with Positive Growth, Inc., a non-profit residential facility that provides a nurturing environment for troubled and homeless adolescent males between the ages of 8 and 18. Pinnacle employees welcomed 15 Positive Growth residents and the response was overwhelming, with employees eager to share more about the promotional products industry and the boys enthusiastic to spend time at the Pinnacle office.


After enjoying hot dogs and barbecued chicken, a tour of the office, and a conversation with owners Mitch and Dave Weintraub, the residents of Positive Growth voted on a design for t-shirts that Pinnacle will donate in support of their basketball team. Atlanta, GA – November 10, 2009 – Always dedicated to helping the environment, Pinnacle Promotions has gone paperless. Since the beginning of November, Pinnacle has enacted new eco-friendly initiatives, including efforts to reduce the number of items that employees print, fax, and file.

Using an innovative system, employees can now send confirmations to vendors via their e-mail. This process eliminates the amount of paper flowing in and out of the office, as it has also decreased the number of tangible documents Pinnacle receives from manufacturers.

One thing that hasn’t changed is Pinnacle’s dedication to service and open management style. In fact, the suggestion to go paperless was an employee-led initiative, with Controller Steve Jennings at the forefront. After noticing how much the company relied on file folders, sticky notes, labels, and paper, Jennings was astounded by the amount of waste, both environmentally and financially. In attempts to reduce this waste, Jennings encouraged Pinnacle employees to rethink the way they send purchase orders and confirmation letters.

Atlanta, GA – October 7, 2009 – Pinnacle Promotions will donate over 200 individual promotional products to the Annandale Village, a private, nonprofit, residential community for adults with developmental disabilities, to be used as carnival prizes and promotional giveaways during their annual Family Weekend October 15-18. Items will include everything from t-shirts, jackets, blankets and bags, to drinkware, toys, and office supplies. Pinnacle has consistently proven its dedication to charitable organizations around the country by making various contributions since its inception in 1994 and this will be the 5th year in a row that Pinnacle has made such generous donations to the Annandale community in particular.

Mitch earned his MBA from Emory University in 1994 and began his own business while still a student at Emory. ATLANTA, April 26, 2008 – Pinnacle Promotions’ employees rolled up their sleeves, put on their gloves and got down and dirty for Earth Share of Georgia’s Corporate Green Day Challenge 2008.

From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday morning, Pinnacle employees joined with volunteers from Cox Communications, The Coca-Cola Company and Harry Norman Realtors to clear overgrown brush at Chastain Park in Atlanta. Volunteers gathered downed branches, shrubs and vines and carried the removed brush to a wood chipper manned by volunteers. The wood chips were then used to line walking trails throughout the park.

The goal of the Green Day Challenge is to make Georgia cleaner and greener by cleaning parks and streams, clearing privet and other invasive vegetation and mulching trees.  Corporate groups for this year’s event were divided among 20 locations in and around Atlanta. Pinnacle Promotions, Cox Communications, The Coca-Cola Company and Harry Norman Realtors made it their goal to create more usable green space for Chastain Park patrons.   

“The whole team worked so hard picking up downed limbs, ivy, brush and even trees,” said Rob Wellon, EarthSmart™ Brand Manager. “We worked up quite a sweat and we left Chastain exhausted but very satisfied about what we were able to accomplish.”

Three hours, a little bit of blood, a lot of sweat and eight cases of poison ivy later, Pinnacle completed the Corporate Challenge. Pinnacle employees returned their gloves and left to join the other volunteers at the “After Work Party” at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, leaving behind a noticeably different Chastain Park.

“I know that we will participate in the Green Day Challenge again next year,” said Wellon. “The Pinnacle team had a great experience at Chastain. The work was tough but rewarding. Everyone was excited to take part in helping Chastain regain its ‘green’ beauty and we look forward to doing it again next year!”

In addition to participation in the Corporate Green Day Challenge, Pinnacle’s Green Committee arranged and participated in a “Bring-Your-Own Bowl and Spoon” Ice Cream Social on Earth Day, sponsored and participated in Earth Hour on March 29, 2008 and distributed reusable grocery bags to all Pinnacle employees at the beginning of April.

“Our Green Committee is dedicated to promoting an EarthSmart™ way of life within our company as well as within our community,” said Wellon. “We are always on the look-out for eco-events in our area.”

ATLANTA, April 22, 2008 – To celebrate Earth Day, Pinnacle Promotions hosted a “Bring-Your-Own Bowl and Spoon” Ice Cream Social for all Pinnacle employees. With this theme, the Green Committee hopes to encourage a move away from disposable plates and utensils to a more EarthSmart™ way of living.

 

Employees were also motivated to do something different for Earth Day including bringing a lunch, riding a bike to work, using alternate forms of transportation and walking to lunch. During the social, employees were encouraged to join a company-wide pledge to live a more EarthSmart™ way of life. With hopes of 100 percent employee participation, Rob Wellon, EarthSmart™ Brand Manager, is confident that this voluntary pledge will be successful.

 

“With the EarthSmart™ Pledge, we want to get a renewed commitment to eco-friendly living from all Pinnacle employees,” said Wellon, “as well as give some simple tips on how employees can ‘green’ their lifestyles.”

 

With several eco-friendly initiatives already underway at Pinnacle, The Green Committee has provided employees easy ways to make a difference. 04/18/2008 Relay for Life

ATLANTA, April 18, 2008 – From Friday evening to early Saturday morning, Pinnacle volunteers participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life® at Emory University in Atlanta. During the overnight event, the Pinnacle team, along with 44 other Atlanta groups, took turns walking and running laps around Woodruff Physical Education Center’s track in support of the fight against cancer.

Those participating in Relay for Life® were asked to set both individual and team goals for the event. To bolster support of Pinnacle’s team, in-office events were held throughout the month of April. These activities included a Mexican Fiesta, an office sample sale and a “clean-out-your-closet” clothing drive to raise money for Relay.

In addition to office events and individual fundraising efforts, the Pinnacle team sold products at the event to raise even more money for Relay.  Pinnacle sold promotional products including bags, water bottles, fans and umbrellas all imprinted with the Relay for Life® logo.  

Pinnacle’s Philanthropy Committee, lead by Team Leader, Rayla Bailey, organized Pinnacle’s Relay for Life® team.

“I am so proud of Pinnacle Promotions for all the hard work that was put into fundraising,” said Bailey. “This is a busy time of year for us all but everyone pushed through and we surpassed our goal by $1,270. That is amazing! It feels really good to be part of a company that is dedicated to giving back to the community.”

Raising a total of $3,270, Pinnacle’s team came in fourth as a top fundraising team for Emory’s Relay for Life®. To date, the 44 participating teams have raised $49,000 and are less than $1,000 away from their goal of $50,000. This number continues to grow as more donations trickle in.

“We had a great turnout at the event with more people attending than had originally signed up,” said Bailey. “I found that Relay for Life® was a great opportunity for employees to interact outside the office. We raised money for a good cause and bonded as team. I could not be prouder of our performance at the event this year.”

In the end, the Pinnacle team agreed Relay was a success.

“Relay for Life® was an incredible experience!” said Heather Peterson, Pinnacle’s Marketing Manager.  “It was nice to get out in the local community and mingle with the other participants and survivors.  Cancer affects so many lives and it was a wonderful opportunity to show our support.”

ATLANTA, March 29, 2008 – Pinnacle Promotions sponsored and participated in this year’s global Earth Hour event in Atlanta.

As part of Pinnacle’s EarthSmart™ initiatives, employees were asked to join in with the people of Atlanta to turn off their lights from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on March 29 for Earth Hour. With several employees participating in Earth Hour and many others working to develop other eco-friendly habits, Pinnacle is continually advocating a more EarthSmart™ way of life among employees.

Sponsors and participants of this year’s Earth Hour were invited to attend the Earth Hour Viewing Party at Arnall, Golden & Gregory, LLP in the Wachovia Building at Atlantic Station. At the Viewing Party, Mayor Shirley Franklin and other high-powered members of the Atlanta community joined sponsors and participants to watch as the city darkened for an hour.    

“The Earth Hour Viewing Party was a great way to celebrate the impact the City of Atlanta made by turning off the lights for one hour,” said Heather Peterson, Pinnacle’s Marketing Manager and member of The Green Committee. “Counting down and watching Atlanta's big skyscrapers go dark was inspiring. It is a small step, but delivered a powerful message that we will continue to take action against global warming.”

To further Pinnacle’s EarthSmart™ goals and initiatives, The Green Committee planned and attended several events throughout March and April. In addition to participation in Earth Hour, Pinnacle’s Green Committee arranged and participated in a “Bring-Your-Own Bowl and Spoon” Ice Cream Social on Earth Day, sponsored and participated Earth Share of Georgia’s Corporate Green Day Challenge on April 26 and distributed reusable grocery bags to all Pinnacle employees.

On March 31, 2007, for one hour, Sydney made a powerful statement about the greatest contributor to global warming – coal-fired electricity – by turning off its lights. Over 2.2 million Sydney residents and over 2,100 businesses switched off, leading to a 10.2 percent energy reduction across the city. What began as one city taking a stand against global warming caught the attention of the world.

In 2008, 24 global cities participated in Earth Hour at 8 p.m. on March 29. Earth Hour is the highlight of a major campaign to encourage businesses, communities and individuals to take the simple steps needed to cut their emissions on an ongoing basis. It is about simple changes that will collectively make a difference – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty, to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby.

ATLANTA, March 15, 2008 – Pinnacle Promotions’ Philanthropy Committee brought smiles and laughter to the young patients of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta with a St. Patrick’s Day theme party.

Pinnacle employees designed various activity stations and invited all of the children at the hospital to attend. Volunteers painted t-shirts with puffy paints, painted rocks, made St. Patrick’s Day theme mobiles, colored with crayons and did various arts and crafts with the children.

The party gave terminally ill children and their families the opportunity to get out of their rooms and socialize as they participated in the activities.

“Working with the children, parents and staff at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta was a fun and rewarding experience,” said Chantelle Green, Director of Program Services for Pinnacle. “At Pinnacle, we pride ourselves on our creativity, so having the opportunity to help the children design t-shirts and paint rocks brought back memories of our childhood. The end result was truly amazing!”
