Albuquerque is the largest city in the state of New Mexico centrally located along the famous Rio Grande River. The city has a rich history and culture stemming from its Native American, Hispanic and Latino heritage. The city boasts many Albuquerque promotional products made in the styles of their various cultural influences bearing the city's name. Nearly half the state's population is located in the Albuquerque metro area, which includes Bernalillo County, Valencia County, and Sandoval County. Albuquerque has continued to grow at a rapid pace; CNN Money reported in June 2007 that Albuquerque was the sixth fastest-growing city in America. Much of the city's growth is occurring outside of the city itself in the cities of Rio Rancho, Los Lunas and Belen. Just an hour drive north and you'll find the city of Santa Fe, in Santa Fe County, which is also a thriving community and a hot spot for tourists. With so much within a 60-mile radius, visitors and residents alike can find numerous attractions, traditional New Mexican restaurants, museums, shops, galleries as well as beautiful golf courses.

Route 66 and Albuquerque

The historic Route 66 snaked through Albuquerque back in the 1920's and today is a tourist destination for those seeking Route 66 memorabilia. The original route through the city has been adjusted, but visitors can tour the current Route 66 along Central Avenue in Downtown Albuquerque and admire the vintage neon signs that line this famous stretch of road. Portions of the old Route 66 between Bernalillo and Los Lunas still boast historical markers denoting its old presence. Route 66 helped pave the growth of Albuquerque and has assisted in making it the city it is today.
