Trade Show season is coming!

Tradeshow season is coming!

When the holidays come to a close, most businesses can count on one thing: the start of tradeshow season. January brings with it some of the largest and innovative tradeshows of the year. Starting with CES and PPAI in Las Vegas and rolling into car shows, boat shows, and wedding shows that will eventually dominate the spring. There are almost 1,000 tradeshows in January alone across the United States.

Ido Leffler recently wrote a stellar blog post on tradeshows, “How to Dominate Any Tradeshow, and Why Even Solo Entrepreneurs Should Try.” Leffler focuses on two main points:
…People want two things:
• They want to be entertained.
• They want free stuff.

Leffler explains that you can entertain people in a number of ways. First, by exhibiting a creative booth space. Something more than just a folding table. And then, it is imperative that you give people your time. Screen shot 2013-12-18 at 9.52.29 AM

As for the free stuff, Leffler states that this is “Manifesto Rule Numero Uno.”

“Turn the convention hall into a walking billboard about you and your brand. Conventioneers love tote bags. Why? Because there are tons and tons of free stuff to be had, and after about two hours they are going to need something to carry the swag in. We always order thousands of great tote bags. No cheap paper or thin cotton for us. Our bags are big, bright, and unique, and by day two we try to make sure that every single person in the hall is carrying one. Be shameless and be fun. Slap your logo on the bag, add some bright colors, and make sure that people instinctively smile when they see it. Have tons of product to give away at the booth, and give it away freely. Don’t be one of those guys withholding the good stuff for the “big guys.” Instead, be the guy with the product that everyone is using and talking about. Freely distributing swag (even if it costs you) is in your best interests; you want those walking adverts wandering the convention.”

Last year, promotional reusable bags and customized cinch bags were top-sellers for Pinnacle Promotions. They are great surfaces for your corporate logo, and you can guarantee that all the other items that people collect at the tradeshow will then be stuffed inside YOUR bag. As Leffler states, they are going to need a place to keep all the other swag!Screen shot 2013-12-18 at 9.34.45 AM

Humor is another way to get people to remember your name. The Learning Revolution, by Gordon Dryden and Dr. Jeannette Vos explains that one of the keys to memory is emotion. Make them laugh, make them smile, and they will remember you. The blah blah blah is always popular for every type of tradeshow because it makes people smile, and could possibly help to spark a conversation.

The best gift I ever received was…

Pinnacle Promotions is hosting a contest to give away our top picks for Holiday Thank You Gifts. I am ineligible to enter.
facebook_holiday-giveaway_2013_page2-v3

However, I still want to have the chance to tell everyone about the best present I ever received.

I am a life-long Houston Oiler fan, who has converted into a Houston Texans fan. Three years ago, my husband gave me tickets to the Houston Texans vs. Tennessee Titans football game in Nashville, only a few hours from where I live. I had never before been to an Oilers or Texans football game, home or away.

GameFrametasticMy husband purchased amazing seats to the December game. He booked a beautiful hotel in the heart of Nashville. Who just happened to be staying at the hotel? Why, the Houston Texans team, staff and flight crew were all staying at the hotel. By chance, we became fast friends with the flight crew before we even knew who they were. That friendship led to player introductions, too-numerous-to-count photos, sideline passes and life-long friendships.

While Pinnacle Promotions is not giving away tickets to the Texans-Titans football game, we are giving away a fabulous gift pack of items from our top picks of promotional, customized Thank You Gifts for end of the year giving.

What is the best gift you ever received?

Megan’s Trend Spotting: 90’s Fashion

One of the trends in retail for the past few years has been the resurgence of 1990’s fashion. Walk into any hip retail establishment and you will find flannel, straight leg denim, vintage hoodies, leggings, and designer clothing featuring large logos.

This flow in the current of the fashion world has reached promotional apparel. While walking the 2013 PPAI Expo in Las Vegas, I spotted various styles that brought me back to the 90’s. I could just hear Eddie Vedder singing “Evenflow.” Check out some of my discoveries from the Expo. The pictures included below are from the Alternative Apparel booth- they represented this 90’s trend effortlessly. Contact us for more details, many of the pieces you see will be added to our site in the next few weeks.

Patterned tops are predicted to be huge for 2013. How cool would your logo look screen-printed in 1 color on a camouflage tee? Or try a baseball tee with stars printed on the arms and a solid body- definitely an attention grabber!

This trendy “grunge” style would work well for the college/university demographic, bars/restaurants and even more casual corporate environments.

What was your favorite piece of clothing worn in the 1990’s?

Megan’s Trend Spotting: Shades of Green and Blue

It has been a busy month for the Merchandising Department at Pinnacle Promotions. First, a few of us attended the PPAI Expo in Las Vegas; the new products for 2013 are amazing! We are working now to add our favorites to the website. And personally, I was also able to attend the Atlanta Apparel Show at AmericasMart last week. This show focused on 2013 Women’s apparel and accessories. I was able to use this retail outlet to trend forecast for our promotional apparel market.

Entrance to the January 2013 Atlanta Apparel Show

One of the big trends I saw at both shows was the use of color. Shades of green and blue were very prevalent in many collections. As you may have seen in Lee’s post, Emerald Green is the Pantone color for 2013.

Bella + Canvas PPAI Expo Las Vegas 2013

I was happy to see these two colors dominate the offerings at the Apparel show as well as at the PPAI Expo. Both colors are easy for most complexions to wear. And with various shades available, it will be easy to find one to suit your brand. Here are my favorite women’s fashions in green and blue.

The Serena Blouse: Beautiful vertical pleats along the front and back, creating a flattering fit. Shown in Vivid Jade.

The Women’s Flowy Simple V-Neck Tee.   With fashion forward details, this drop sleeve tee has a relaxed fit and super soft hand. Shown here in Blue Marble.

Alternative Apparel Meegs Eco Jersey Ugly Stripe Tank: Stripes look fresh in green and chocolate. This tank is made from a polyester/cotton/rayon blend, has a flattering rounded bottom and racerback. Shown in Eco True Avocado/Eco True Brown Stripe.

The Emma Pullover. Perfect corporate casual 3/4 sleeve sweater. Featuring 3 button plackets along the front shoulders and subtle puff sleeves. Pictured above in Pacific Blue.

Port Authority Ladies Crosshatch Ruffle Blouse:  Feminine details like ruffled placket and front and back darts make this shirt a winner. Shown above in Chambray Blue. Also available in Deep Blue.

And I had to throw in one accessory. I am loving the Lexi Wristlet! Shown here in Turquoise, this case will accomodate a smartphone, credit cards and more. Perfect for running errands or a night on the town!

If you see something you like, feel free to contact us! Stay tuned for more Trend Spotting posts in the weeks to come!

Megan’s Product Pick: Mini Stripes!

Now that summer 2012 is fully underway, it is time to think about clothing that you can wear on vacation. I am fully into the nautical trend this year, and love the look for men and women alike. One of my favorite nautical staples is the stripe. I think stripes are classically cool and can be flattering when styled right.

The mini stripe is a pattern that can be worn by just about anyone. Since the stripes are subtle, they will not enhance any flaws. So, you can be on trends wearing stripes, but in a tasteful and forgiving way. I love these new tees; they have the right amount of classic and edge. A one-color logo screen print would look great on these!

The Men’s mini stripe notch tee: Made of 100% ring spun cotton, this tee is so soft to the touch! Choose from 3 classic stripe combinations. Love the contrast tipping around the v-neck too!

Megan’s Product Pick: NEON t-shirts and accessories

I was a wee little one when neon clothing and accessories were all the rage in the 1980’s, but I still got on the trend bandwagon with OP (Ocean Pacific) jams and a paint-splattered tee. I though I was pretty cool, considering that my trendsetting Grandmother had the matching ensemble. The 90’s were not much better, giving us another regurgitation of neon, worn by ravers and club kids. Glow sticks, makeup, glitter and hair dye were doused with neon hues. It seemed the more the better.

Kim’s Promotional Product Pick of the Week: Promotional T-Shirts

So in short, I love this commercial.

How fun is this and what a great idea? Pick up a custom tee shirt for each state you visit. Or better yet, how about each city? Alright, alright. Not trying to get wild and crazy. But I am a fan. Not endorsing the car. I can’t vouch for that one. Although I did have a Civic once that we ran into the ground… But I digress.

Custom T-shirts to the Rescue in Pi Versus Tau

This week mathematical enthusiasts around the world recognized June 28th as National Tau day. While March 14th (3/14) has long been acknowledged as Pi Day due to its numerical resemblance to the first three numbers in the decimal expansion of pi, proponents of tau insist the holiday be more appropriately referred to as “Half Tau Day.”

Tau advocates, or Tauists, assert that tau equals approximately 6.28, which is twice as much as pi, and therefore believe that the number itself is more significant than pi alone. Efforts to replace pi with tau have been ongoing for about ten years but it was Michael Hartl who brought widespread attention to the movement in June 2010. In “The Tau Manifesto,” a dedication to one of the most notable numbers in math, Hartl explains that pi is not factually incorrect, however, it is a “confusing and unnatural choice for the circle constant.” Pi is the ratio of circumference to diameter of a circle but tau is circumference divided by radius. Simple enough, right?
