Drumvoices Circle

Join local artists in celebrating Martin Luther King’s life and legacy at the Drumvoices Circle. Eugene B. Redmond will be hosting this special event highlighting poetry and the visual arts created during the Black Arts Movement. A moving and powerful reflection on history, Drumvoices Circle is ideal for all ages.

IKEA BYOF (Bring Your Own Friends) Day

IKEA stores nationwide. Saturday. Free. 

BYOF (Bring Your Own Friends) Day is IKEA’s way of “rewarding friendships.” The event includes gift card giveaways, free food, decorating tips, and amazing savings. RSVP on Facebook, and, for every friend you invite, IKEA will donate $1 to Save the Children, up to $50,000 total!

Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam

Georgia Dome. Saturday, 7:00 p.m. $15-$55; all access passes $110.

We promised that the events in 2012’s Weekend Guide posts would be bigger and better than ever, and the Monster Jam Monster Truck Racing at the Dome this weekend is going to be huge! In fact, promoters are saying that the line-up of monster trucks at this event is bigger than the Georgia Dome has ever accommodated. Many Metro PCS store locations are offering free pit passes, so we advise checking Monster Jam’s website prior to Saturday to learn more.

Atlanta Boat Show

Georgia World Congress Center. January 12-15. Thursday – Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.; Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Adults, $10; Children 15 and under, free.

Shop hundreds of new boats, along with a plethora of boating accessories and essentials during the annual Atlanta Boat Show. Visit with exhibitors and boating experts throughout the four day event. Livvy’s Love Fun Run and Walk

Stone Mountain Park. Saturday, Registration at 7:00 a.m.; Run at 8:00 a.m. $25 per person for families of 5+; $500 for teams of 20-50..

Enjoy a scenic five mile run or walk this Saturday morning as you jog to raise funds for Livvy’s Love non-profit foundation. After the run, spend the afternoon enjoying the park. All registrants will receive a Livvy’s Love Run/Walk T-shirt and a free raffle ticket.
