Little Creek Farm’s Holiday Market & Quadrille Performance

Little Creek Farm in Decatur. Saturday, 10:00 a.m – 3:00 p.m. Free. 

Spend your Saturday at the farm! Enjoy complimentary cider and appetizers while you browse the Little Creek Farm’s annual holiday market. Shop for arts, crafts, clothing, horse-related gear and more.  You will be sure to cross a few names off your holiday list! And don’t miss the synchronized riding performance by the Quadrille Team at 1pm!

Kids in the Coop

Oakhurst Community Garden. Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – noon. Admission: Garden-member, $5; Non-member, $10. 

Has your child asked for a pet chicken? If so, Anne-Marie Anderson, a.k.a. The Celtic Gardener, is hosting a workshop for children about the basics of chicken care. This class is recommended for kids aged 4-10. Students will learn how to pick up, feed and be a keeper of chickens. Parents can learn about the joy of chicken keeping and how the practice can fit in with their family structure. Anderson’s daughter, Scarlett, will also assist with the session.

Battle of the Beards

Highland Inn Ballroom. Saturday, 7:00 p.m. $15; $25 for VIP Ticket.

Calling all beards and staches. Join your fellow bearded Atlantans in a serious competition for cash, prizes and pride. Ladies don’t feel left out. There’s also a “Best Lady Beard” contest – creativity encouraged! In addition to the contests, take in live music and comedy and enjoy food from local food trucks.

Caroling & Cupcakes Weekend

Fernbank Museum. Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.; Sunday, noon – 4:00 p.m. $17.50 Adults, $16.50 Students, $15.50 Children; Free for Members.

Visit Fernbank this weekend for arts and crafts, holiday songs sung by the Georgia Boy Choir, dance performances by the Atlanta Ballet’s Centre for Dance Education and a free cupcake. And don’t miss your photo opportunity with Santa-saurus on Sunday! Check out the schedule of events for each day’s schedule.

2011 29th Annual Decatur Holiday Candlelight Tour of Homes

Various homes in Decatur (optional shuttle from the Decatur First United Methodist Church lot, the 4/5 Academy lot, or the Agnes Scott deck on South McDonough Street). Friday and Saturday, 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. $20.

This festive tour of homes features seven homes decorated for the holidays, as well as three points of interest around the City of Decatur. A shuttle is available to transport you through the tour, or you are welcome to take care of your own transportation. Ticket proceeds benefit four local causes (The Mary Miller Decatur Youth Fund, The Decatur Education Foundation, The DeKalb History Center, and The Oakhurst Community Garden Project).

Decatur Holiday Marketplace & Cafe

Clairemont Elementary School (Decatur). Friday, 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Free.

If you attend the Decatur Holiday Candlelight Tour of Homes, this family-friendly function is included in the itinerary. However, if you just happen to like arts and crafts, food, music, or all of the above, plan to make a stop at the Decatur Holiday Marketplace. Browse and shop artwork and crafts created by local artists, in addition to art created by Clairemont Elementary students. The festival also features a musical performance by the Clairemont Assembly Band (Saturday from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.), food and baked goods.
