Smooth writing with custom gel pensI’m always telling my wife, Eunice, that I’m a simple man. I’ve been writing this newspaper column for this tiny hamlet of mine for going on 20 years now, and simple has always been my motto. I write the article every week with custom gel pens and hand it off to my secretary, Sandy, who types it into the ol’ word processing machine, or whatever it is. I’ve written about how I like my eggs scrambled, from the Denny’s on Route 21, and how I don’t want any latte in my coffee. I’ve done a column about how Bud the barber cuts my hair high and tight, and how I don’t need any dang gel in there, like they use at the fancy Super Cuts on Broad Street.
This week I’ll continue to keep it simple, and start my series on “What I Feel are the 10 Greatest Inventions in my Lifetime.” Don’t look for anything newfangled or high-tech. Neither will there be any man-driven accomplishments that have made the world a safer place to live or grow. What you will find on this list are things that have made my daily life more enjoyable. Stuff like microwaves, softer toilet paper, and late-night drive-thru.
But today we’ll start with promotional gel pens. Holy heck, are those things smooth. I picked up some personalized gel pens when I covered the county job fair last month, and those custom gel pens were just the greatest. As I remember it, there were few writing options in the late '60s and early '70s, but now I stand in amazement whenever I go to a trade show and see the styles and colors available in personalized gel pens from companies like Pinnacle Promotions. The custom gel pens have a smooth feel to them that makes writing a pleasure. On days when I don’t feel like writing this column, but know it could ruin your Sunday if I skipped out, I pick up a promotional gel pen and get to work.
Even the marketing copy about these custom gel pens puts a smile on my face: “Gel pens are still all the hype, especially when they have your logo custom printed on them! These personalized gel pens add a little extra pizzazz to your promotional efforts and help reinforce your brand at the same time. All it takes is a little custom branding. Be sure to give away gel promotional pens at your next trade show, company event or expo for some smooth and fun brand exposure!”
Isn’t that great? Just fantastic. Now, I know what you’re wondering: Which kinds are my favorites? Let’s see. There’s the Primagel gel pen, which has top-quality gel ink, a ballpoint tip, and a comfortable textured gel grip. There’s the Bic Intensity Clic Gel Pen, an ultra-smooth gel roller pen with a clear barrel color and automatic clip retracting mechanism. And the Curvaceous Silver Matte Gel Pen — even the name makes me happy. Just don’t tell Eunice.
That’s all for today. Next week: twist-off caps. What a great invention!
