Are You Ready for Your Oscar Party?

It’s Oscar time! The 84th Annual Academy awards are airing on Sunday at 7 p.m. If you’re like me, you’re mostly interested in the Best Picture category. Here are this year’s nominees:

• The Artist
• The Descendants
• Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
• The Help
• Hugo
• Midnight in Paris
• Moneyball
• The Tree of Life
• War Horse

Watching the celebrities take the red carpet is always a fun, but it’s even more so when you’re attending or even hosting an Oscar party. Here are a few ideas to make your Oscar party great:

• Serve food that goes with the theme of your favorite movie. (Hawaiian food for the Descendants, Southern Food for The Help, Parisian food for Midnight in Paris, etc.)

• Serve popcorn and candy out of movie theater style cartons.

Promotional Popcorn

• Have your guests show up in full Black Tie attire. Put a red blanket or sheet on your walkway so all your guests will be able to walk the red carpet.

• Decorate your house with film inspired memorabilia.

Promotional Film Feel with Candy

• Have a contest to see who can pick the most winning movies.

And of course, you can’t forget the napkins and drinkware, necessities for any celebratory party.

What’s your pick for Best Picture? Let us know in the comments! I’ve only seen one of the movies (The Help) but I have a feeling The Artist is going to be a big winner on Sunday night.

Actually I’m most interested in the Best Actor category. I’m rooting for Gary Oldman in “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” which was a brilliant film!

Sadly, I haven’t seen a single one of the films up for the Best Picture award…
