Grant Park Historic Walking Tour

Grant Park. Saturday, 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Free.

Get to know one of the oldest neighborhoods in Atlanta. The Grant Park Conservancy is hosting a scenic tour of this important district of Atlanta. Learn about its Olmstead design, fresh water springs and unique historical structures. Visit Fort Walker, a Civil War encampment located inside the park and follow GPC’s role in preserving this historical area. This tour is family and dog friendly. Be Healthy Georgia Day

Be Healthy Georgia Day

Georgia Capitol. Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Free.

Promote healthy living to your kids at the Be Healthy Georgia Day. Lt. Governor Casey Cagle, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and the Atlanta Track Club will host a one mile free race for kids ages 7-12. 20 Guest mascots (including Elmo), members of the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Dream, Falcons cheerleaders and members of various college sports teams will all be on hand to celebrate, before and after the run.

While St. Patrick’s Day isn’t until next weekend, there’s no reason you shouldn’t start celebrating early. There’s no better place to don your green than Luckyfest at the Park Tavern. Enjoy green beer, DJs and live music by Life and Limb, Nimrod and Unzipt at one of Atlanta’s most popular St. Patrick’s Day parties.

Shamrock N Roll Road Race


8th Annual Shamrock ‘N Roll Road Race

Atlantic Station. Sunday, 8:00 a.m. $30 for 5K/10K entry until 3/8/12; $35 at Packet Pickup March 9 and 10; $8 for Tot Trot.

Verizon Wireless and Belk present the 8th Annual Shamrock ‘N Roll Road Race, including a family friendly 5K, 10K, and new for this year, a Tot Trot for runners five years of age and under. In 2011, the race drew a crowd of over 2500 runners, kilt runners, walkers, strollers, and dogs, and this year’s turnout is expected to be even larger. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers, first kilt-wearing finishers, first dog finishers, first stroller finishers, and more! Food, beverages, and sponsor booths/activities following the main event.

American Craft Council Show

American Craft Council Show

Cobb Galleria Centre. Friday and Saturday; Preview Party Thursday ($75). $13 one-day pass; $20 three-day pass; free for American Craft Council members, children 12 and under; $5 after 5PM Friday evening only.

Over 225 of the country’s top contemporary jewelry, clothing, furniture and home décor artists will be showcasing their work at this prestigious event. Specialty categories include “Handmade Under $100,” “Greencraft,” “Local,” “Men’s Dept,” “Bride-to-be,” “Foodieware,” and “Blue Chip Club.” Wear your walking shoes, as this show is the largest juried, indoor craft show in the southeast.
