At Least You Can Pretend to Be Royal With Kate Middleton Promotional Products

The royal wedding is this Friday! Check our blog for daily updates featuring our favorite promotional products that celebrate the marriage of Prince William of Wales and Kate Middleton.

Were your dreams of marrying Prince William crushed when he officially announced his engagement to Kate Middleton last November? Well never fear ladies (or gentlemen…); with the slew of Kate Middleton promotional products that have been produced to promote the upcoming nuptials, you can at least pretend to be Her Royal Highness Princess William of Wales.

Dave Haygarth

The promotional products started innocently enough with replicas of her 18-carat sapphire and diamond engagement ring, but now there are even bed sheets printed with the bodies of Kate and William that let you pretend to be the royal duo as they appeared at the press conference announcing their engagement. The actual dress she wore (a $600+ blue Issa London dress, featuring a gathered waist and a pleated front skirt) sold out in under 24 hours after Kate was seen wearing it, and though not exactly promotional products, there are several knock-offs now on sale that let you copy her look for a fraction of the price.

Royal weddings don’t happen very often, and as the first ceremony in more than twenty years, this Friday’s marriage of Prince William to Kate Middleton has been one of the most talked about events in 2011 around the world. The royal wedding craze has led to a made-for-TV Lifetime movie (that Britain’s Guardian newspaper has called “awful, toe-curlingly, teeth-furringly, pillow-bitingly ghastly”) as well as hundreds of different commemorative products, from beer to serving platters to promotional mugs.

As popular personalized items for an array of occasions, it’s no surprise that promotional mugs have been branded with dozens of images, words, and phrases in honor of the upcoming royal wedding. After all, we Americans watching the event live will need something to hold our coffee, as coverage of the ceremony begins as early at 4 am EST (with the actual nuptials beginning at 6 am).

President of Czech Republic “Steals” Promotional Pen

gwydionwilliamsCzech President Vaclac Klaus made headlines this week during an official visit to Chile, however the news reports have been focusing on something other than diplomatic matters. During a news conference with Chilean President Sebastian Pinera, Klaus was caught on film “stealing” a ceremonial promotional pen.

Klaus is clearly seen admiring the pen as he takes it from its case and turns it in his hands. He gives a slight nod of approval before moving the hand holding the pen underneath the table behind which Klaus and Pinera are seated, where he then appears to strategically transfer it from the right hand to the left and insert it in his coat pocket before subsequently buttoning his jacket, closing the pen case, and returning both hands to the table.

In his own defense, President Klaus responded to the promotional pen incident claiming that, “This is what people usually do – take a notepad or a pen from events they attend.”

Sunday Alcohol Sales (and Promotional Wine Bottle Openers) Coming Soon?

The bill to allow Sunday alcohol sales in Georgia passed in the House last night, leading many local residents to wonder if they will soon be able to purchase beer, wine, and liquor every day of the week. While Senate Bill 10 still needs a signature from Governor Nathan Deal, he has made it clear that he will pass it. After receiving Deal’s approval, the next step towards making Sunday alcohol sales legal is a public vote. Registered voters may see the referendum on the ballot as early as November in cities that hold annual elections. Other counties will  wait to vote until the following year. Either way, Georgia residents may soon have use for promotional wine bottle openers on Sundays. And, organizations in any industry can set themselves apart from the competition by distributing functional – and timely – promotional wine bottle openers imprinted with their name and logo.
