Rubik’s Cube – More Than a Promotional Toy

Invented in 1974, the Rubik’s Cube (named for its Hungarian creator Erno Rubik) is considered to be the world’s best-selling toy with 350 million cubes sold worldwide as of January 2009. Custom printed with your company’s name and logo on one side, this little puzzle also makes a great promotional toy.

“The Space Invader” artist is now using Rubik’s Cubes to create his next masterpieces for a project entitled “Rubikcubism.” “The Space Invader” is a French street artist who started “invading” cities around the world in the 1990s, installing mosaics inspired by the arcade video game Space Invaders. The themes for his work have since expanded but his mosaic technique remains the same and the colored squares of the Rubik’s Cubes are the perfect mediums to mimic the pixilated style of the game’s graphics.

Flash Drive Business Cards

Leave it to the writers over at Bit Rebels to find another creative invention. I have previously written about the Penny Shooter Business Card and Food-Replica Flash Drives thanks to BR, but now they have led me to a new item that combines the useful parts of the two aforementioned products and blends them into one great promotional item – what I am calling, the Flash Drive Business Card.

My favorite promotional toy – in case you’ve already deleted your Facebook account.

Did you know that the word count for Facebook’s new privacy policy exceeds that of the United States constitution? In recent months Facebook has revised its policy to make most personal account information public by default, and while an opt out is available, one must click through more than 50 privacy buttons, which then require choosing among a total of more than 170 options. It’s no surprise that users are angry and growing controversy surrounding the privacy matter, or lack thereof, has caused many Facebookers to protest – there are currently 4,562 confirmed guests for the event “Facebook Protest” (that is ironically hosted on Facebook) whereby on June 6th attendees are asked to, “commit to not logging in or interacting with Facebook in any way,” – and some are even deactivating their accounts altogether – there are 12,450 committed Facebook quitters according to the site www.quitfacebookday.com. But let’s be honest, those numbers are like peanuts compared to the 400 million users that apparently use the site worldwide and Facebook will likely continue to dominate the Internet.

For those of you still a part of the social network, be sure to go to Pinnacle Promotions’ fan page and check out my new favorite promotional toy.

Get Your Noses Ready for…Scented Promotional Products

Okay so we all know that promotional products can be more influential for brand recognition than other forms of advertising because they are essentially tangible ads – and thus are able to appeal to our perception more easily, in that they are physical entities that can be seen and touched. Well now some promotional product manufacturers are adding a new corporal attribute into the mix – smell.

One of the most promising of these new items is the Scent-Sational Grip Promotional Pen, which is reminiscent of the classic Mr. Sketch “smelly markers” that we all cherished in grade school.

There are a few others, however, that I am not sure will bring about such a delicate joy for the old olfactory sense.

Keeping Cool with Custom Sports Bottles

Okay loyal readers, I’ve got “ooh that’s cute” moment number 4 for you! Or is it 5? Maybe more? Okay I probably should have started counting a few “ooh-that’s-a-cute-promotional-product” moment’s ago, but I digress.

Today I stumbled across this little gem of a custom sports bottle while searching for an EarthSmart item for an upcoming Earth Day promotion. This stylish 22 oz. sports bottle has the metallic look and stylish shape of a more expensive aluminum water bottle, but with the incredibly low price expected of a basic sports bottle. The Metalike Bottle is BPA-free and dishwasher safe, making this the perfect grab-and-go, toss-in-the-dishwasher bottle for anyone running at full speed ahead.

Bringing Sexy Back to the Promotional Bag Industry

These days, boy-crazy preteens are sticking posters of Justin Bieber and Robert Pattinson up on their walls. Back when I was that age, I was absolutely crazy over NSYNC. Seriously – crazy to the point that I convinced all of my teachers to allow me to sign my name as Ashley Chasez (the last name of my fave member JC) on all of my papers. Luckily, I have taken back my proper last name in the years since, but I still get excited when I see my favorite boy band continuing to make it out there in the world. (Yes – I started watching America’s Best Dance Crew solely because JC is a judge). And what do you know— one of my teenybopper idols is breaking into the promotional products scene! That’s right – Justin Timberlake, perhaps you have heard of him, has become an investor as well as a designer for a line of bags (Ful, which sounds like Fuel) that are available in retail as well as within the promotional bag industry.  Wanna know more about JT’s bags?
